HK Rec Dept: Movie Making Camp & Babysitter Training Course Offered Summer 2018

Movie Making Camps by Incrediflix

These camps are for kids ages 7 – 13 and meet Monday – Friday, July 30 – August 3, 2018 at the HKHS Lower Media Center. Animation Flix meets from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and Minecraft Movie Flix meets from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. The fee is $150 each (non-residents add $10). Please bring a snack to each camp.

Animation Flix – Learn how to bring everyday objects to life using the magic of stop-motion! Create multiple stop motion movies using everything from toy cars to white boards. It’s the ultimate arts and craftscamp where you create, direct, and film your movies in age-appropriate groups. All flix downloadable within a month after camp ends.

Minecraft Movie Flix – We know you love Legos and can create incredible Lego worlds, now it’s time to bring those worlds to life in Lego Stop-Motion Animated Flix! We provide the Legos, and you provide your imagination. Students will create a Lego set with Lego characters for a movie storyboard they write, shoot, and voice-over in age-appropriate groups. All flix downloadable within a month after camp ends.

Babysitter’s Training Course

The Haddam-Killingworth Recreation Department is offering the American Red Cross Babysitting Course this class will meet Tuesday & Thursday, July 17and 19  from 5:45 – 8:45 PM, in the HK High School Lower Media Center. There will be  a second session on Friday August 10th  from 8:30 – 1:30 pm.  The fee is $72 and includes a Red Cross Babysitting Manual and Certificate. Non-residents please add $10.

This American Red Cross Program has been updated to include Basic Child Care, First Aid for breathing and bleeding emergencies, and injury prevention as well as covering other important topics to prepare young adults for babysitting. Students will not become certified in CPR or 1st Aid, but will gain knowledge. This class is an excellent opportunity to help students build self-confidence as well as job leadership, and decision-making skills.
