Haddam Social Services: May 2018 Monthly Report

The Haddam Social Services would like to thank everyone who came out to the Town wide Tag Sale at our building. We appreciate all the support. We raised $200 for the Emergency Fuel Bank.

A special donation was made to the Emergency Food Bank in memory of Millie Wiknik.

The Haddam Emergency Fuel Bank serviced one family for oil in the month of May.
The Haddam Emergency Food Bank has serviced 29 adults and 7 children.
The Haddam Clothing Bank has serviced 4 adults and 2 children.

The Farmers Market coupon books are currently available for seniors over the age of 60 who meet the income requirements.

  • A person must be 60 years old AND meet the income limits (proof of income is required)
    • Income eligibility limits: $22,331 for a single person, or $30,044 for a couple
  • If someone is under 60 years of age AND disabled, they must meet the income eligibility guidelines AND live in subsidized housing to be eligible.
  • Coupons are distributed on a first come/first served basis.

The Food Bank is in need of:

  • school/camp snacks for kids throughout the summer
  • toilet paper
  • personal items for women
  • breakfast foods

The Giving Garden, sponsored by Town and Country Nurseries, is already producing cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, fresh lettuce, and herbs. If you have any extra fresh vegetables from your garden, please consider donating to the Food Bank.

Hours:
Monday by appointment only between the hours of 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Tuesday 9:00 a.m. -3:00 p.m.
Thursday 10:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.
Friday 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
