Track & Field 2018: HKHS vs. Hale Ray, Westbrook, & East Hampton

On Tuesday, April 10, 2018, the Haddam Killingworth High School boys and girls track teams opened their season as they competed in a quad-meet at East Hampton High School against Hale Ray, Westbrook and East Hampton.  Both the boys and girls team came away with three victories on the day as the boys defeated Westbrook 111-28, beat Hale Ray 129-10 while also beating East Hampton by a score of 107-43 to start their dual meet season 3-0.  Leading the way for the Cougars were the following event winners: Luke Sodergren 110 hurdles (17.9) and 300 hurdles (47.7), Andrew Meredith 1600 (4:54), Colin Regan 400 (55.4), Christian Uzwiak 3200 (11:13), Dalton Brown Long jump (19’1″), Dalton Modehn Triple Jump (36’1″) and Colton Lavioe Discus (127’4″).  All 3 boys relays (the 4×100,4×400 and 4×800) were also victorious on the day helping the team score valuable points.

The H-K girls team also went 3-0 on the day to begin their dual meet as they beat Westbrook by a score of 97-52, beat Hale Ray 129-19 and defeated East Hampton by a score of 97-51. Leading the way for the Cougars were the following event winners: Kelsey D’Amico who placed first in the 3200 (12:09), Veronica Chrzanowski won the 100 (13.4) 200 (28.8) and Long Jump (15’10”), Autumn Coady won the 100 hurdles (17.7) and 300 hurdles (52.3) and Ashley Duncanson won the 400 (64.9). The girls 4×800 and 4×400 relays were also victorious on the afternoon to propel the girls to their victories.
The track teams will next be in action on Thursday, April 12 at 3:30 pm at HK against North Branford.
