HKHS Announces Top Honors 2018

Haddam Killingworth High School is proud to announce Kelsey D’Amico as the valedictorian for the class of 2018. Kelsey is the daughter of John and Lynn D’Amico of Killingworth. Kelsey has excelled in a highly demanding schedule, including 27 honors and advanced-level classes, culminating in a 4.32 Cumulative Weighted GPA. Kelsey has received numerous awards for her academic and extracurricular achievement, including the Yale Book Award. Kelsey is a leader of our Cross Country and Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field teams, serving as Captain of Cross Country during her Junior and Senior years. She is a highly-decorated runner who holds four school records, culminating in her participation in the New Balance Nationals Meet in 2016. Kelsey is also Vice President of the Student Council, Treasurer of the French Honor Society, and member of the National Honor Society. Outside of school, she is an award-winning showman of livestock, Vice President of the New Haven and Middlesex County 4-H Extension, and also has volunteered at a local nature center. Kelsey recently began working at a local veterinarian clinic. Although Kelsey is currently deciding between colleges, she is sure of her plan to major in Animal Science with a goal to attend Veterinary School.

Andrea (“Andi”) Roman, daughter of David and Laura Roman of Killingworth, has been named the Salutatorian of the Class of 2018. Throughout her time at Haddam Killingworth High School Andi earned a 4.29 GPA while taking 23 honors and advanced-level classes. Andi is a member of the HKHS National Honor Society as well as the Spanish Honor Society. This is Andi’s second year with the Human Relations Club where she holds a leadership position. Additionally, she has been a member of our Student Advisory Board since her freshman year and is a member of the Student Council. Andi has participated on our Lacrosse team, Field Hockey team and both Indoor and Outdoor Track teams. Academically, Andi is highly recognized. She was presented with the HOBY leadership award her sophomore year as well as the Harvard Book Award and the David McCullough award for Writing her junior year. Andi exudes creativity and enjoys crafting when she has free time. She spends time volunteering at Middlesex Hospital on a regular basis. Andi plans to major in Biomedical Engineering in the fall with the hope of attending medical school at some point in the future.
