Warming Station Open this Weekend

From the Town Hall 3/10/18 at 10:00 a.m.:

The Red Cross Shelter at HK Middle School Will remain open until Sunday at noon for showers, warming, charging and sleeping. Please remember to bring a towel and bedding as they only have blankets on the cots. Pets are not allowed; only those with Service Dogs.

Eversource is on Walkely Hill with multiple crews due to the extensive damage there. We expect once that is fixed it will restore most of you that are surrounded in that area.

There are other crews working in Haddam Neck and Higganum. Most off the wires and trees in driveways have been cleared so people can leave their homes.

The town crew is out picking up debris and trees in areas that were cut off by trees.

From Social Services 3/9/18:

If anyone is in need of food please┬ácontact Social Services we will be available to anyone in need over the weekend. They need to just email ([email protected]) or call.

From the Town Hall (updated 5:30 pm 3/9/18):

The H-K Middle School is open Friday, March 9, 2018 until 6:00 p.m. for showering, warming, and charging devices. The Red Cross opened an overnight shelter at H-K Middle School. They will provide cots. Please bring a blanket and pillow. If you stay overnight, you will also receive a hot meal tonight. Service dogs are welcome; no other pets.

Thursday, March 8, Eversource evaluated all of the down wires and is in the process of removing trees and restoration. Please be advised trees are still down in many areas and be careful driving as some roads may still have one lane. At this time, there are 5 eversource crews in Haddam and 1 crew in Haddam Neck.

March 9, 2018 update 11:00 a.m from First Selectman Milardo.:

At this time 50% of Haddam is still without power.

Additional Eversource crews have been assigned to Haddam to focus on making areas safe that still have wires and trees blocking roads and entrances. They left town hall at 8:30am this morning and are making their way threw the town.

We have received complaints that Eversource has notified and delayed times of power restoration. I understand your frustration I am having the same experience and have relayed this to Eversource. They continue to stress that 911 safety and clearing is done prior to restoration.

The Middle School is open at least until 6pm tonight for showers, warming and charging. I am working on options for overnight stays if people are still in need.

Thanks to our town road crews. For example,Pete Santoro was out chain sawing pine tree limbs in the road and in our driveway as I was plowing early Thursday. Thanks also to Eversource crews from Conn. and Mass. who have been up and down Candlewood and Brainard Roads constantly. As is known, Haddam, E. Haddam and Chester were the hardest hit towns in the state. We got our power back on Friday morning.

Hayden hill road from jail hill/Beaver Meadow road still no power. Circuit was left open. No trees or branches or lines down from jail hill to our house where the power line stops. Trying to get answers as to why it has been left with no power flowing! Does eversourse know that the line ends? Tried to tell eversourse via phone and email and in person when I see a truck. Good job to the town workers clearing the roads!
