First Day Hike Re-scheduled to a Spring Day Hike at Haddam Meadows State Park

New Year’s Day was very cold. We were very disappointed that we needed to cancel our First Day Hike.  We’ve  decided to re-schedule the First Day Hike to a Spring Day Hike for Saturday, March 31, 2018, 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon at Haddam Meadows State Park. The rain date will be Saturday, April 7, 2018. The approximately two mile hike will be lead by Lisa Malloy, Executive Director of the Haddam Historical Society, Gail Reynolds, UCONN Extension Master Gardener Coordinator and Cherry Czuba, CT DEEP Adopt-A-Park Volunteer. The hike will include the following: the history of the Meadows, some background  on geology and floodplain  habitats of the Meadows, the human impact on the landscape, native plants found in the memorial butterfly/bird/bee garden and opportunities to volunteer at the park, including the first invasive plant cleanup on April 14.

Please meet at the park entrance, wear warm clothes, and bring water. Children under 16 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. Dogs must be leashed. Light refreshments will be served. For further information contact Cherry Czuba at 860-345-4856.
