Boys Swim 2017-18: HKHS vs. Granby 1/3/18

Haddam Killingworth High School Boys swim team swam against Granby on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at home. The Cougars won 83 to 75.

The first event, 200 Yard Medley Relay, HK teams came in second. The second place team was Simon Brown, Nate Carlson, Niko Yepes, Etienne Huebner with a time of 2:25.44.

The second event, 200 Yard Freestyle, HK’s swimmers came in first, fourth and fifth: First place with a time of 1:57.13 was Zach Houlton, fourth place was Jonah Freeman with a time of 2:14.20, fifth place was Ryder Wink, a freshman with a time of 2:41.75.

The third event, 200 Yard Individual Medley, HK’s swimmers came in second and third: Eli Houlton came in second with a time of 2:15.94, Jake Torello came in third with a time of 2:25.21.

In the fourth event, the 50-yard Freestyle, HK came in first, second and fifth. Judge’s decision ruled that Michael Mormon came in first for H-K with a time of 25.25, and Christopher Garrelts finished second with a time of 25.20, and Nate Carson came in fifth with a time of 28.61.

The fifth event was diving, which we no longer have at HKHS.

The sixth event, 100-Yard Butterfly, HK came in second, third, and fourth. HK’s Eli Houlton came in second by less than 2 seconds with a time of 57.84. Max Revis took third with a time of 58.96, and James Clemente came in fourth with a time of 1:14.21.

In the seventh event, 100-Yard Freestyle, Kyle Mazziotti came in first with a time of 51.97, Christopher Garrelts came in second with a time of 56.76, and Simon Brown took fifth with a time of 1:05.63.

In the eighth event, 500-yard Freestyle, HK took the top two spots, as well as fourth place: Zach Houlton came in first with a time of 5:16.37, Michael Morman  came in second with a time of 5:42.88, and Jonah Freeman took fourth place with a time of 6:29.44.

In the ninth event, 200-Yard Freestyle Relay, H-K’s teams won first and third. The team of Eli Houlton, Zach Houlton, Christopher Garrelts, and Kyle Mazziotti came in first with a time of 1:38.61, and the team of Simon Brown, Ryder Wink, Etienne Huebner, Niko Yepes came in third with a time of 2:07.31.

Event 10 – 100-yard Backstroke – H-K students took first, third, and fifth place: Jake Torello took second with a time of 1:02.33, Simon Brown took third with a time of 1:23.96, and Ryder Wink took fifth with a time of 1:37.63.

In the eleventh event, 100-Yard Breaststroke, H-K’s times were faster than Granby’s but because H-K had already won the meet, their times were considered Exhibition: Max Revis had a time of 1:06.69, Kyle Mazziotti had a time of 1:08.09, and Nate Carlson had a time of 1:22.16. Granby received the points with times of 1:24.15 and 1:44.68.

Event 12 – 400-yard Freestyle Relay – was also considered an Exhibition for H-K. H-K’s team of Max Revis, Eli Houlton, Michael Morman and Zach Houlton came in with a time of 3:43.73. Granby received the points with their times of 4:04.03, and 5:03.34.
