Haddam Writers Group Holds Readings on New Book in December

Submitted by Kent Jarrell.

The Haddam Writers Group has just published a new book “So a Bunch of Us Sat Down to Write…” and will hold book readings in Haddam and East Haddam in December.

The book is an anthology of forty-two stories by the nine members of the group ranging from memoirs, essays, stories, and poetry.

Two of the authors, Kent Jarrell of Higganum, and Isabelle Seggerman of Haddam, will appear at the Brainerd Memorial Library, 920 Saybrook Road, Haddam, on Thursday December 14, 2017 at 4:00 p.m., and at Two Wrasslin’ Cats Coffee House & Cafe, 374 Town Street, East Haddam, on Monday December 18, 2017 at 3:00 p.m.

“We are quite an eclectic group of writers,” said Jarrell. “We all live in Southeastern Connecticut but our backgrounds are different, and include former professors, a journalist, teachers, scientists, an antiques dealer, and a minister. We hope our combined voices will provide a rich and entertaining experience for readers.”

The Haddam Writers Group has met weekly at the Brainerd Library for the last four years to critique each other’s writings.

“Our discussions are lively and our opinions can be quite strong,” said Seggerman. “I had never had an experience like this. Writing for me has been a solitary endeavor.  Writing has united us. I never would have met my fellow writers if it were not through the written word.”

Copies of this softbound book will be available for signing and purchase after selected readings from the book. “So a Bunch of Us Sat Down to Write…” is also available on Amazon.
