Local man accused of Larceny and Dangerous Weapon harges


Special  News Release from the Old Saybrook Police Department

This morning (Nov. 10, 2017) , Old Saybrook Police responded to Wal-Mart for a shoplifting (larceny) incident that had just occurred.

It was reported that the male subject may have been armed with a knife and firearm.

Old Saybrook Police located Tyler Kusta, 21 of Higganum, CT inside a liquor store at the Old Saybrook Shopping Center.

The investigation revealed that Kusta had visited the liquor store, made a purchase of tequila, then went to Wal-Mart where he stole items including the “.357 BB Gun” (pictured) and then returned to the liquor store.

When Police arrived he was asking the store clerk if he could “use the computer behind the counter to charge his phone”.

The stolen firearm was in Kusta’s backpack along with his cellphone and charging cable…..
Kusta was charged with 2 Counts of Carrying a Dangerous Weapon and Larceny in the 6th Degree. He is being held on a $75,000 Bond.
