Dudek would have won if not for the Spoiler, Samperi.

Many of the 188 who voted for Samperi just like to be “different” and probably would have written-in candidates such as Donald Duck had he not run. I think people give Samperi too much credit when, in fact, he is nothing but an annoying town character with an undeserved overblown ego. I think Fred lost simply because he did not attend the debate. Many people I spoke with wondered if he would stand up for them if he would not stand up to Samperi.

And what’s really telling is that of all the KPC candidates, Samperi, the kingpin behind the party, got the least amount of votes.

Two good candidates for First Selectman and well run smear-less campaigns. Telling results for KCP and their bullying tactics.

While I agree with your comments, perhaps in retrospect that was a mistake. Had Fred Dudek gone after the KCP and received those the majority of those 188 miscast votes; he’d be First Selectman. I truly believe Samperi did not run to be elected. He merely ran as a vendetta to make sure a Republican Candidate did not get elected. One could reasonably assume the majority or most of those 188 KCP votes lean Republican. Do the math. He did to this election what he has done to others.

The assumption that all 188 votes would have gone too Dudek is unreasonable. Scamperi has more than 30 close friends and family, most of whom , would never have voted for Dudek. Lino won, would have won in head too head vote, All we have to look at is the entire ticket. DEMs are overwhelmingly successful .
