Jake Frith rushed for 91 yards on 13 carries with one touchdown as the Cougars (6-3) defeated the Rams (7-2) in Higganum. H-K’s James Murphy intercepted a pass on his own 37-yard line with just over three minutes remaining to stop an OSW comeback effort.

The Cougars were able to frustrate the Rams by shutting down their running game. HK defensive lineman Trey Callender played a particularly strong game with several tackles for a loss.

“This was a big win for us,” said H-K Head Coach Mike Baklik after the game. “To beat a playoff caliber team like Old Saybrook/Westbrook is a credit to the hard work of our kids and the belief they have in themselves.”
