Cross Country 2017: HKMS Starts the Season Strong

The Haddam Killingworth Middle School boys and girls Cross Country teams (60 members strong) are off to another strong start under coaches Anderson, Jennings and 1st year Ali Rodman.  They opened their season outrunning Elliot on their home course and traveled to Manchester on Saturday, October 7, 2017 to run the Wickham Invitational against teams from all over New England.

HK boys beat all Connecticut teams and finished only behind Rhode Island, bringing home the 2nd place trophy out of 27 teams. Noah San Vicente crossed the finish first for HK in 5th place out of 383 boys. Also winning medals for top 50 was Dakota Tucker in 14th and Daniel Haas in 33rd place. 1st year runner Greyson Merola ran a terrific race and finished 51st.   Lucas Kamoen, Tyler Robinson, Peter Lavelle, Ethan Bessoni and Mason Gorham all finished in the top 100 runners.

Brianna Minervino finished 1st for HK girls, 43rd  place overall, earning a medal.  Teagan Sweeney, Ali Twachtman, Maggie Singer, Carley Rettberg and were HK’s top 100 out of 333 runners.  Kylie Studzinski and Ava DiMatteo also scored for HK.  The team finished in 10th place finish out of the 27 teams.  Congratulations to all runners!

The team competes next at Hale Ray on October 11, 2017.
