Track 2017: HKHS Hosts Quad Meet

On Thursday, April 27, 2017, the Haddam Killingworth High School Boys and Girls Track teams competed in their last home meet of the season in a quad-meet at the Richard Dupuis Track against Westbrook, Hale Ray and Portland. Each team went 3-0 on the afternoon to improve their dual meet records to 6-1 on the season.

The boys defeated Hale Ray 136-12, beat Portland 123-26 and defeated Westbrook by a score of 96-53.  Leading the way for the Cougars were the following event winners: junior Kurt Sodergren in the 1600 (4:54), junior Seth Freeman in the 800 (2:07.9), senior Doug Brown in the 3200 (11:16), senior Nick Formica in the long jump (19’0″), sophomore Tyler Knapp in the pole vault (11’6″) and senior Nate Parker in the triple jump (37’6″). The boys 4×800 and 4×400 relay teams were also victorious on the afternoon to help score valuable points for the team.

The HK Girls team also went 3-0 on the day to improve their dual meet record to 6-1 for the season as they defeated Hale Ray by a score of 136-13, beat Portland by a score of 123-26 and defeated Westbrook by a score of 91-59. Leading the way for the Cougars were the following event winners: sophomore Sadie Strom won the 100 hurdles (17.3) and 300 hurdles (50.4), freshman Ashley Duncanson won the 400 (65.5), junior Veronica Chrzanowski won the 200 (28.1) the long jump (15’6″) and the triple jump (30’9″), sophomore Emma Anziano won the 3200 (12:48) and senior Rachel Coady won the high jump (4’6″). The girls 4×400 and 4×100 relays were also victorious on the afternoon to score points for the team.

The track teams will next be in action on Friday and Saturday at the O’Grady Relays in Danbury and then travel to Cromwell next Tuesday to compete in a tri-meet against Cromwell and East Hampton.
