HVFCo Junior Division Purchases New Helmets

Submitted by Olivia Drake.

The Haddam Volunteer Fire Company Junior Division purchased new helmets for all of its members in March. The cost of these helmets was $1,800, which was raised through pasta dinner and car wash fundraisers.

“As always, the Junior members would like to thank the Haddam community for their support in each of these fundraisers,” said Junior Division Chief Ej Adametz. “We often get the older, hand-me-down equipment from the senior members, so we’re grateful that we were able to purchase these new helmets.”

The Junior Division is comprised of 14- to 17-year-old cadets who learn alongside firefighters and perform support functions at calls. The company accepts up to 10 Junior Members at any given time. Juniors receive training and protective turnout gear. Once a Junior member is 18, he or she has the opportunity to join the regular membership.

There are four open positions with new helmets available. Want to try one on? Contact [email protected]
