HVFCo: Motor Vehicle Accident with Lifestar Involvement

Submitted by Olivia Drake.

On Nov. 1, 2016, Haddam Volunteer Fire Company and Middletown South District (South Fire District Firefighters IAFF Local 3918) responded to a motor vehicle accident on Route 9 South between exits 9 and 10. Shortly after 5 a.m., a driver had lost control of his vehicle, veered off the road and struck a tree. Upon arrival, companies found the driver unconscious and unresponsive with no obvious signs of trauma. The vehicle’s airbag did not deploy. LIFE STAR was requested and HVFCo. set up a landing zone further south on Route 9. The patient was transported to Hartford Hospital via Haddam Volunteer Ambulance with LIFE STAR crew on board. Connecticut State Police is investigating.
