HVFCo: Two Motor Vehicle Accidents in 24 Hours

mva-10-13-16Haddam Volunteer Fire Company responded to a motor vehicle accident at 6:35 pm Thursday, October 13, 2016 on Killingworth Road in Higganum. A single driver lost control of his vehicle, veered off the north-bound side of the road, struck a tree and flipped his vehicle onto its roof. Upon arrival, firefighters discovered the driver was trapped inside and was trying to self-extricate. Firefighters broke the rear door’s glass to gain access to the patient. The driver was taken to Middlesex Hospital via Haddam Volunteer Ambulance. The vehicle was leaking oil and firefighters applied absorbent pads to the area. The north-bound side of Killingworth Road was shut down at the intersection of Little City Road for about 45 minutes while crews worked to remove the vehicle. The cause of the accident is under investigation by Connecticut State Police.mva-10-14-16

Haddam Volunteer Fire Company responded to a two-car motor vehicle accident at 8:10 am this morning, Friday, October 14, 2016 on Bridge Road across from River Valley Provisions in Tylerville. A driver heading west on 82 towards Route 154 struck another vehicle. The drivers of both vehicles were evaluated on scene by EMS personnel. Both refused additional medical treatment. HVFCo directed traffic until the scene was cleared.
