Haddam Neck Fair 2016: Labor Day Weekend

 The 105th Haddam Neck Fair opens Friday, September 2, 2016 at 4:00 pm and continues through Monday, September 5, 2016 at 5:00 pm. The fair is an all volunteer operation and works to stay family friendly, and community centered with something of interest for all visitors.
haddam neck fair tractorTraditional events occur all weekend ranging from truck and tractor pulls, horse and oxen pulls, a horse show, a baby show and cattle, sheep and goat shows.  Special contests include a Beard contest, multiple birth contest, Skillet Throwing ( women only) and Strongman competition for both men and women. .In addition, there are many contests for kids to enter including a kids pedal pull, watermelon eating, hula hoop, egg throwing and pie eating.
New attractions this year are a lumberjack show all four days, an extreme jeep rock climbing event on Monday, a Pony Pull on Saturday and Ed the Wizard, a walk around entertainer.
In addition to the many exhibits there is a 5-K Road Race  on the scenic  roads of Haddam Neck on Sunday morning  live music on the Bandstand on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, a Farmers Market, Haddam Neck General Store, numerous non-profit organizations  and commercial vendors offering products and services.
The Educational and 4-H Building will have a 4-H Booth competition and a Pumpkin Painting and Decorating Contest. Representatives from DEEP’s Wildlife Division, Friends of the Office of State Archaeology and a Place Called Hope will be available to answer questions and there will be a sheep shearing demonstration on Monday.
The entry process this year has changed and visitors will park their cars first and then enter the fairgrounds through a ticket gate. There is no charge for parking and children under 12 are free. General admission is $8.00.
