Local Player Helps Whalers Place 2nd in CT Hockey Tier IV Squirt State Tournament

The Middlesex Whalers A1 Squirt hockey team, including Haddam resident Charles Maxwell, placed second in the Connecticut Hockey Tier IV Squirt (ages 9-10) state tournament held in late March.

Maxwell played wing for the Whalers, who finished the season with an overall record of 29-17-6.

The Whalers earned a berth in the Tier IV Squirt state tournament by finishing second in an eight-team regional tournament in mid-March.

Seeded 4th in the six-team Tier IV Squirt state tournament, the Whalers won two-of-three round-robin games to earn a place in the semi-finals. The Whalers knocked off the top-seeded Northwestern Icehawks 4-2 in a semi-final game before falling to 3rd-seeded Simsbury 3-0 in the state championship game.

The Whalers won the Stick Season Showdown tournament in Stowe, Vermont earlier in the season.

The Whalers are a youth ice hockey organization for boys and girls from locations in Middlesex County and other surrounding towns in the Middletown & Cromwell area. The Whalers offer instructional (Learn-To-Play and House League) and competitive levels of play for children from four years of age through high school.
