The HKHS Girls’ Basketball team split two Shoreline Conference matchups this week defeating Hale Ray at home (53-39) and falling to North Branford on the road (63-50).  Halie Serbent scored a career high 30 points versus Hale Ray and she also grabbed 7 rebounds and snatched 5 steals.  All other Cougars who entered the contest notched points on the night including Ana Bruder (6 points, 8 rebounds), Meghan O’Brien (5 points, 8 rebounds), Sam Mohammed (4 points), Caroline Fortuna (3 points, 3 assists), Alyx Stevenson (3 points), and Daijah Rich (2 points).  HK faced a tough road challenge at North Branford and struggled to contain the speedy Thunderbirds throughout the contest.  Serbent led the team with 18 points and 9 rebounds while Fortuna (11 points) and Stevenson (9 points) combined for six Cougar three pointers.  Bruder chipped in with 8 points and 5 rebounds while Rich and Mohammed each netted a bucket and O’Brien added 6 rebounds.  HK’s record now stands at 6-9 (6-6 in conference) and the team travels to Westbrook on Monday for a 7:30 pm showdown with the Knights.
