The HKHS Field Hockey team wrapped up the last two weeks of the season splitting their final four games to finish the season with a 9-5-0-2 record. Last week, the Cougars defeated Old Saybrook (1-0) and fell to Westbrook in overtime (2-1). On Monday, HKHS hosted Conard and the guests prevailed (1-0). their dedication to the program. This senior class won the 2012 State Championship and back to back Shoreline Conference titles in 2012 and 2013. Once the game began, HKHS got down to business as the team took a 1-0 lead midway through the first half as Kolby Burger sent a Jamie Little pass into the back of the cage. In the second half, Burger displayed her defensive prowess as she made two spectacular goal line saves on the same Canton offensive series. The Cougars got an insurance goal in the second half when Danni Roman scored off a Caroline Fortuna feed on an HKHS penalty corner opportunity. Meghan Cerino stopped 2 Warrior shots to cap off her sixth shutout of the season. The Cougars have earned the #9 seed in the upcoming CIAC Class S State Tournament and the team will open up on Tuesday, November 4th at #8 Old Saybrook for a 2 p.m. tournament tipoff.

Hi! Thanks for the article on the girls’ field hockey team. I heard there was a picture of the seniors on the web site and was disappointed that it was no longer there. Any reason?
